Ventrilo
IP and Port details in WoW Guild Information
or on the Forum
PC Client - Windows i386 - 32bit 3.0.4
Mac OSX 10.4 or higher - 32bit 3.0.4
What is it?
It is an application that allows us to talk over the internet whilst playing WoW.
Because Ventrilo is connected to a dedicated voice server, only minimal pc/laptop resources are used;
it should not affect the performance of WoW.
By using virtual 'rooms', we are able to talk with people within that room, rather than
everyone at the same time.
For example: if a group is planning to do an instance, you can designate Room 4 for it,
where only those involved in the group will be part of the conversation.
How much does it cost?
Ventrilo is freeware, which means there's no cost to download and use it.
You will need a headset, a microphone and a supporting soundcard or motherboard.
Most soundcards/motherboards are compatible cos if you're playing WoW you should be able to run Ventrilo.
The voice server is rented by me and currently will host up to 50 users.
How do I get connected?
Download Ventrilo from the Ventrilo website; the link is at the top of this page.
Contact me via the website or /w Angeldiva/Matriarch or Minky in-game to set up an account
on the voice server and give you a Username and Password.
Use the link above to follow the setup instructions.
Please note: when Ventrilo is started for the first time, it will offer you
the opportunity of using the setup wizard;
I recommend you use this.
How will my rights be protected?
There are no profanity filters.
The best guide is to read the Naming and Harassment policies stated on the WoW website.
Consideration must be given at all times to the 12+ rating of the game.
You can report offensive conversations via the Guild's website, where the offending member will be
warned in the first instance, and ultimately banned if they continue to give offense.
